Central Food Retail Boosts Thai Fruits by Launching Thailand’s Largest Durian Festival “Bangkok Amazing Durian Fest 2016”
Central Food Retail, the executives of Central Food Hall and Tops has gathered famous Monthong durians from 11 provinces across the country to be served at the first durian buffet in Thailand called Bangkok Amazing Durian Fest 2016 from 13 – 17 August 2016 at Square A, CentralWorld, covering an area of over 1,152 sq.m. It is aimed to boost the country’s tourism industry as well as Thai fruits among Thais and foreigners and support products from fruit gardeners. This event breaks the record in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum Thailand as “Thailand’s Largest Durian Festival”.
Phattaraporn Phenpraphat, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Department, Central Food Retail Co., Ltd. revealed that the area will be divided into two zones: the highlighted zone of durian buffet feautures the most famous Monthong durians from four regions and eleven provinces, namely, Trat, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Yala, Pattani, Si Sa Ket and Uttaradit. Moreover, all-you-can-eat durian products such as durian pizza, durian with sweet sticky rice, durian ice cream, sweet and delicious mangosteens from the south to balance out the hotness of durians and fresh coconut are offered on the buffet.
The second zone is the Farmers’ Market that sells fresh Thai fruits, e.g. Monthong durians (Pa La-U, Sai Khao and Khiri Wong), Kan Yao, Long Lap Lae, Lin Lap Lae, Chani and Phuang Mani as well as processed durian and mangosteen recipes such as durian with sweet sticky rice, durian pizza, durian bingsoo, durian cheesecake, durian mooncake, durian takayoki, durian flavored liquid nitrogen ice cream, durian crepe, durian in heavy syrup, durian cake and quality mangosteens.
The Bangkok Amazing Durian Fest 2016 will be organized to leverage the standard of of Thai fruits to a premium level, to emphasize the quality of Thai fruits, which are regarded as the best in Southeast Asia, to promote Thai tourism and to encourage Thais and foreigners to eat more Thai fruits. In addition, it is a channel for distributing and selling fruits; it supports products of fruit gardeners and generates more income for them, stimulates economy and increases domestic spending. It is expected that there will be more than 100,000 tourists during this year’s long weekend Mother’s Day. The great event will be recorded by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum Thailand as “Thailand’s Largest Durian Festival”.
